Shut up! That is Vic Mignogna singing that theme song, and Toonami had the 4kids dubbed version of this, which sucked. It left out all the blood, and the chef’s cigarette became a freaking lolli-pop. Plus the theme song was some rap-type thing, which- though I didn’t hate it- paled in comparison to the epicness of Vic. So quit your complaining, please.

lol @ all these people complainig about this, 4kids sucked they absolutely murdered the show, so what if funimations opening sucks, at least its the same song as the japanese original, not some fake ass rap that they just made up. 4 kids was so horrible that anyone actually familiar with the japanese manga probably wanted to commit suicide after watching it.
i have a saying in this, first of all i used to like 4kids but when i found out what happened they edited crap! i like both versions of uncut and 4kids because its funnier, but 4 kids messed up alot of shit…. and childrenized it, but i choose funimation cuz funimation should of been having onepiece in the 1st place, and who turns a cigarette into a lollipop….. and seeing blood is cool . 4kids dnt know how to keep things original…. but funimation keeps it the same way it should be just like the japanese. 4kids has no rights to edit such things and things that dnt need to be edited.

Um guys… I don’t know what your on but the 4Kids Version is the Toonami Version, They just made it suck somehow through the power of people that makes things suck
not to mention that all who say the rap song is good simply don’t have ears at all. the real first opening and all the following are just what a great epic unedited and uncut show deserves. and im happy i started to watch this show directly with funimation not to get my ears polluted too much by names like heatfist trace and zolo. the dvd of 196-208 is coming out around april so i guess they will start releasing single episodes one by one very soon we had to wait for them to correct all of 4kids butchered dubs who changed the story, the names, the soundtrack and the art so thx to funi who brought back the epicness of OP once more.

see 4kids was on toonami up intill skypiea roleld around then toonami did the logical thing and hired funiation to dub it where 4kids left off. But for one reason or another it was taken off air after epsiode 195 and now funimation redubbed EVERY episode up intill 195 and this month (Feb 2011) after 3 years of paitent waiting we will see what happens
I think 4Kids only dubbed 104 Episodes of One Piece.

no offense but i did like the 4kids rap it was very catching and thats y i stayed into one piece for as long as i did until toonami died. so if u dont like 4kids den quit complaing about it i havent seen da funimation one yet and it might be better but if people like da 4kids one better than get ova it. i do agree that 4kids did make it lame but i deceide to get back into it.
when I first saw one piece it was on tv: the 4kids dubbed version. I use to think it was cool but after I watched the funimation dub I changed my mind, funimation TOTALLY ROCKS !!!!!, the voices of the characters are awesome and match up so much better to the picture because unlike 4kids, funimation actually included the swearing, the smokes and blood and didn’t edit the the freak out of it like 4kids did, ALL HAIL FUNIMATION, (for all those 4kids dubbed fans give funimation a go don’t just complain and bitch because the song at the beginning isn’t as cool and your not use to the voices, just give it time it grows on you oh and to add funimation also stick to the original plot unlike 4kids.) I wish funimation brought the licence to one piece in Australia that would be awesome.

For all of you funimation haters out there, here are the facts:
1: 4Kids made many edits to the contents of the show, including Sanji sucking on lollipops (opposed to smoking a cigarette), Mihawk’s sword was turned from a cross to straight hilt, Zoro’s name was changed to Zolo, and all blood was removed.
2:The show itself was heavily edited itself, the first 143 episodes cut down to 104.
That being said if you like the 4Kids dub, that is fine, but in any One Piece fan’s opinion this is the dub that does the show justice.
