Gotta say, this makes me think a little faster than the original, but this is like 10x more gorier (and perhaps a little bit more perverted)

I understand people liking the ultimate hellsing, but the older version was really good and i loved it more then this. that is just my opinion. i love alucard!!!!!!

Sexy awesome, and definitely better than the first anime. Sadly though, I do have a few complaints. But the reason I choose to list pros instead of cons is because everything else is just so perfect ♥.
The animation is good, the story is good, and I like most of the voice acting. But not all of it. For some reason, I remember Alucard’s voice being deeper in the first anime, which I like more (the deeper voice, that is). I also recall Father Anderson as having a much thicker scottish accent (which I miss). It’s been awhile since I watched the last, so I may just be implanting memories. A few short other complaints: I miss Alucard’s maniacal side (but it is early on in the series, it may yet show up), I think the characters smile a bit too often (devaluing the effect that insane grin has on you, since it’s the norm), and I REALLY miss Integra’s violent, insult filled, rage fueled outbursts.
In a preemptive response to anyone who gives me crap about using the old anime as a measuring stick: I have read the manga (up to volume 4 at least), and just because this OVA is faithful to the manga, doesn’t mean it is perfect. The old anime may have been about as faithful as a pimp in whoresville, but had good qualities as well.
this hellsing is far better i jsut wish they would make english dubbed of episodes 5,6, and 7. If you want to watch them go look up hellsing ova on youtube.

One – Hellsing is a spectacular series. Two – The English dub is actually very good. Three – This OVA is even better then the other anime series. 1 + 2 + 3 = one very happy girl :)

I don’t really like Hellsing Ultimate because I guess I’m so used to the first one? But also.. for some odd reason, the animation just feels… weird to me..like it makes my head go “wee-wah wee-wah” for some reason :/ Maybe i’ll get used to it if I watch it more…

DRZ…. way wrong… the first was far less bloody and the first was shit.. the plot was shittier, the villains were shittier and the quality was shittier and the original manga had comedy and a little comedy is good, its not like it entirely comedy its still mostly bad ass fighting and at least they went into the story of millenium rather then mentioning them then going no where with them…. so yeah… plus the first version wasnt really that deep and had soooooo many plot holes it made me wanna kill it…
Exactly. I’ve read all ten volumes of the manga and when I watched the first anime, I wanted to hunt the person down who did it and smack em with a frying pan. Thank God someone redid it and made this one which is far closer to the manga. And yes, the manga does have comedy it, just like Pollywally said.

this anime is no where near the original,i mean fuck? police girl is comic relief now wtf? she’s no longer conflicted by anything? i mean in the original she was like really emo about being a vampire but now she’s just a happy go lucky bitch hocked up on viagra and crack sorry to those who are offended but this sucks..
She was comic relief in the manga. What some people don’t know is that the manga had comedic elements in it and since OVA is more closely based on the manga than the TV version was, it’s gonna have a bit of comedy thrown in.
Something else some people don’t realize is that police girl IS NOT the main character. I don’t know how some people could possibly come to the conclusion that she is, but these are the kind of people that usually forget the recipe for cereal, so their opinion does not count for much. The OVA is the REAL original, so it annoys me when people refer the the TV release as the basis for their opinion on the OVA as if the OVA is some kind of diseased variant of the series. I guess the version you see first does account for most of this, but cant you idiots do a little research before posting as if you know everything you could possibly fathom with human understanding about the subject? And about police girl being all emo and conflicted like every other bowel scrapping, scrotum peddler, emo praising cliche and unoriginal anime, isn’t it a good thing they DIDN’T put that reality TV vomit inspired bullshit in the OVA??? I, for one, am glad they went away from that poor attempt at cliche “drama” in the OVA series, which didn’t really fit anyway. it just took attention away from everything else and was mostly unnecessary. Still, both series get 10/10 from me.
I agree 100% It’s not all about Seras. She is an integral part of the series, but not THE main character, Alucard is the main character as the story sort of revolves around him and his involvment with Integra. Now, Seras plays a small, but slightly significant role in the outcome of the series. I have not read the manga, but I did watch the entire 13 episode anime series. I have an epressed opinion about Anderson, and it is as followed, ANY man who has the balls to take on one of the most powerful vampires and manage to put up a great fight to a draw, has my respect, regardless of his religion.

I’m going to just go ahead and announce that this is approximately 7 quadrillion times better than the original Hellsing. I mean, in the first half hour alone it covered the first two episodes of the original series, improving them in the process. Alucard is no longer content to just stand in one place and kill everything, he has now resolved to look rediculously awesome doing it. Seras is no longer a whiny side character, she is a believable character in her own right. Anderson no longer has a half-assed back-story and a conveniant regeneration power, he has a fully developed backstory and… a conveniant regeneration power. Okay, so he hasn’t changed that much. But the overall presentation of the whole story has improved dramatically. It’s not just the animation (though it looks beautiful), but its the story and the action and the characters and… You know what, this is taking too long. I’ll just save some time by naming the things they didn’t improve on. Like, how do Alucard’s clothes regenerate along with him? And who protects the rest of the world from vampires? And what happens if they run out of holy artifacts to melt down? And how the hell are they keeping all of this secret?!

Not only does Hellsing step away from the norm in Anime, it redefines vampire-related material. Alucard’s no where near a typical anti-hero, and each character is very unique. Kouta Hirano, Hellsing’s creator, mixed history, fantasy, and people’s morbid curiosity into a unique story that is very much worthy of it’s praise.

you know what you don’t know a good anime when its right in front of you, maybe your a gay little fairy that loves only the type of anime that have no conflict what-so-ever. Maybe you should get kicked in the head and then shot like the double tap from Zombieland, then maybe you wouldn’t know the movie because it has zombies, monsters that are just as classic as vampires, or maybe you love the little gay sparklevires from Twilight that show no representation of vampires at all except for the blood. so don’t be going dissing a good anime that shows how vampires are supposed to be unless you actually enjoy the classic representation of monsters, so fuck you and never comment on an anime that has classic monsters again.
