I don’t care what’s it… What’s matter is that it’s great story! Best thing America did. Last time they did good animation with some serious plot was sometimes in 90′s! So I would say: FINALLY!!!
Also, great ending. When you think about it. Aang going to ‘celebration’ together with Zuko. Because those two were sworn enemies. But none of them was really bad (now I mostly mean Zuko).
Now I hope that November will bring new episodes. ;)

The movie was a disgrace to the series. I was nothing but disappointed.
The Last airbender movie was outstanding. Seeing this movie I want more Avatar: The Last Airbender episodes.

bah why did it have to end? this is why i hate TV series because they always end and im always left feeling dissatisfied no matter how long the series is i always want to know more at the end of it like what in avatar and you r left wonder at all the other miseries, it would be good if the series was more like games were when you finish with them you finish because you know everything there is to know and your bored of seeing the same things over and over. but then again you can’t tell a story like you can in a TV series.
wow. this left me speechless. This was, no IS the BEST animation/cartoon I have EVER seen! Just, wow. I love this. I really do. This beats all other cartoons and anime. I was happy to see the good ending but upset it had to end. I happened to be going through a hard time at the moment and this got me through it all. Thank you Avatar for simply being the best.

who cares if its anime or not x i just love it, its so original x the people, the battles, the fights, the creatures, the places, the seriously messed up family, the laughs,jokes and adventures and most of all the historical setting. Avatar has been with me through the years, it has made me cry AND laugh and i hope legend of korra will be too. the plot of it is jst intense and interesting, it actually grips u x not one of them shows that make u think “man i cant be fucked to watch the next episode” praise to the people who made this, u guys hav a serious imagination!!! and i respect u for that. dubhappy i actually dont know what i would do without u. i luv u guys. marry me ;Dxxx
im not completely sure if any of you might of noticed this but seriously you guys are fighting and your trying to essentialy compare a apple to a orange, half of you say the orange is a citrus fruit and the other half say the apple is sweet, there is no real comparison, they are two different things and both are right. the people who are saying avatar is a anime are for the most part talking in a literal sense like textbook definition which is correct yes if you use the textbook definition avatar is a “anime” american made but anime none the less, and the other half of you are talking more about the general thought behind the word and how it is used, the slang meaning if you would, you are also all correct as general thought is that it is only anime if it comes from japan. in short you are both right get overselves nither will prove the other wrong because nither of you are

Whoa! I was expecting a lot of comments about the end, not what I found, but never mind. Epic ending, one of those happy and glorious endings. It wasn’t an overwhelmig victory like no other, but it sure was a victory. Aang did finally became a true Avatar, so unbelievably powerful, changing to his avatar state whenever he wanted to. They didn’t show us Zuko meet his mother, i’d like that, but they let us know that it is gonna happen.
About what you said guys, how did you mess up the whole thing about this old geezer in the air temple? :) funny. To think that he could be an avatar! hehe
Still the next season you mentioned was indeed very interesting. A good idea no doubt. It won’t be a duplicated story of this Avatar. It will be based in a Republic City as they call it, a city full of crime (not the same world saving stuff) and Korra will have already mastered the 3 elements (except for air). The show will be also more matured as they mentioned. I like that. Still… why the new avatar had to be a GIRL??? I mean, no offence to the other sex, but whyyyy?

2nd: it was originally in Japanese but they changed it to english dub. its about the same story just a few different words so they fit to the mouths.

so since i said all that heres what i think about the episode i’m so proud of Aang not killing off the fire lord and i’m so glad that Zuko became the new fire lord i felt kind of bad about Azula and how she went nuts but eh what can ya do i guess she needed it and i really love the ending since the guru said he had to let Katara go i guess he was scared that he could never love her again but thats not true he made his own destiny and i’m really glad that Katara and Aang are together if they do make a 2nd part of Avatar i’m really gonna be sad because it said 70 or 75 years into the future well if thats the case what about Zuko’s mother? is that gonna be in a flash back? and since i’m gonna end this now if none of this makes any sense then i’m sorry just enjoy Avatar don’t think of it has a American anime or Japanese anime just enjoy :) thnx <3 (heart btw) =P

I think there is gonna be a 4th book because they never say where zuko’s mother is but thats only my opinion though

There will be a new show coming out named Avatar: Legend of Korra. It’s about the Avatar after Aang who already knows Water, Earth, and Fire bending and seeks to learn air bending from Aang & Katara’s son.
I’ve been hearing the same rumor since like 2007 but i haven’t seen or heard of any official announcements of it.

Wow this series was amazing! The sense of fun and adventure, the emotional depth, and the asian philosophy was more then I expected from a kids cartoon. I found it really enriching. Btw this is a hybrid of American and Japanese style animation. Actually Japanese anime, when it first start, incorporated into its manga origins American animation like the old Disney movies. So anime is actually a hybrid style to begin with and Avatar just continues on with that traditions of bringing different animation styles together. If you think about it the term anime itself is the English word animation with an Asian pronunciation and abbreviation. Therefore I don’t think it’s wrong to call Avatar an anime.
Finally, someone who agrees that anime isn’t only Japanese! :)
ok avatar was made here by nickalodeon an american studio their never were subs its an anime they hot the fighting styles from matrial arts technices but avatars not a anime its above and beyond that its to good to be one its better then anime and avatar rules next season gonna be hypt i hope we see a child of toff

actually anime is the drawing style of manga put into an animation so you shouldnt say your drawing anime style instead you should say im drawing manga style.
Although in episode 36 there is the other nomad avatar so Aang can be in the next series.

Avatar: The Last Airbender is a wholesome, American-made anime. In my opinion, it is one of the best and attention getting anime out there, and I have watched a lot of Japanese-made animes. Avatar is a show that makes you feel good after watching it and sometimes gets you to say up until the early hours of the morning to watch it over and over again. Watching the characters grow, develop, and eventually find their place in the world is an amazing trait in Avatar.
For the “IS IT AN ANIME OR NOT?” debate, here’s what I have found:
The definition of an anime is a style of animation originating in Japan that is characterized by stark colorful graphics depicting vibrant characters in action-filled plots often with fantastic or futuristic themes (fromhttp://www.merriam-webster.com/dictionary/anime).
Anime is a STYLE ORIGINATING FROM JAPAN, not does not HAVE to be FROM Japan. This is an AMERICAN-MADE anime. AMERICAN creators got the design from JAPANESE anime and the fighting, names, and cultural background from CHINA. Avatar in really a combination of different cultures; quite amazing if you think about it.
So, yes, Avatar IS AN AMERICAN-MADE ANIME.
Oh and technically every animated show (anime or not) is a cartoon. A cartoon is a motion picture that is made from a series of drawings, computer graphics, or photographs of inanimate objects (as puppets) and that simulates movement by slight progressive changes in each frame.
So, Avatar is an American-made anime AND a CARTOON. Bleach, Naruto, Inuyasha, Fullmetal Alchemist, etc. are Japanese-made animes and CARTOONS!
You sir are correct. Just because its not made in Japan doesn’t mean its not anime, Its on this website therefore its anime, I’m American and if i draw an anime painting… it will still be anime! This is because anime is a type of drawing style. Yes the style originated in Japan, but that has nothing to do with it. If a company in Japan made a show that looked like, oh lets say, Ed Edd N Eddy then they would call it a CARTOON! They wouldnt call it an Anime just for originating in Japan. So this is an anime… (just look at their god-damn eyes!!!!)

This is an awesome series but it isn’t anime. The martial arts the bending is based off of aren’t even Japanese, they’re Chinese. It is just an American cartoon made for kids by Nickelodian.
