It’s the translation of the name, though if i had to guess based off of terminology.. Every next “chapter” to the show something is trying to be purified, Soul society killing off “rogue” soul reaper and of course Bounts trying to kill off the Soul Society. I have not followed the series much at all, but this is just a generalization and theory i had watching the few episodes i did.

wow bleach kicks ass but there is one big question. why do they call it bleach?????
